New York

Day 1!

SO HERE WE ARE IN NEW YORK CITY!

After a year of planning and thinking through every single detail we possibly could, we finally left Salt Lake City on our way to New York City.  Did we think about the potential for a hurricane off the coast of New York?  Of course not!  But, at least the we only had rain on the first day, then it got hot and humid for the rest of our stay there.
Waiting for the bus at 6:10 a.m. to take us to the airport

So we board the plane on time, just to be told that our flight will be delayed 4 hours because of the storm on the east coast.

Then the obvious choice was to go to a restaurant at the airport and order a round of bloody mary's

Yum!  Then, we find out that our flight is boarding once again after only an hour delay. So we drank up our breakfast and headed to New York!

We braved the airport train and subway from JFK to 23rd Street and 7th Ave in Chelsea.  Great neighborhood

Had dinner then walked up to the Empire State Building

Went all the way to the top...

...and had a great vista of Manhattan at night!

Oh, the trinkets they sell!

Love the selfie!

Then walked back to Chelsea (34th Street to 23rd Street)

And saw this poor guy sleeping in a doorway.  So much for our first day of a nearly month-long trip!

Day 2!

At the Flatiron Building

... and Washington Square

Washington Square

Stonewall Inn

2017 Holiday

We started our trip on the day that a hurricane was supposed to hit New York City.  Just the edges of it, mind you, but nonetheless, it didn...
